Artist Spotlight Number 2: Josh Wilson

So, I just completed my second article for J103′s webpage. It’s about this up-and-coming singer/songwriter Josh Wilson. He’s pretty cool. He seems legit. And his music is actually something I’d listen too. So, if you don’t know who he is, you should check him out on iTunes. Above is one of his more popular songs. I hope you like it.

Here’s a link to the story I wrote if you want to check that out.

Anyways, there’s a few awesome things going on in my life. One, I was asked to be on the panel of interns in a Communications 101 class (they are discussing internships?). I’m pretty excited about that. I do enjoy my internship, and I think that the faculty can see that. So, it’s good to be acknowledged for that.

Two, EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER EDITION is coming to my town! Wahoooo! So exciting! I think this will make this town a better place. Well, anyways the reason I’m talking about it today is because J103 is doing some stuff for it. So, hopefully I’ll be able to tag along in some of that and get extra hours for my internship. Maybe I’ll get to meet Ty. Or just help paint something. That would be cool too.

Three, I have not heard from Africa yet. It has only been three weeks and three days since I’ve applied, so they still have time. But, I’m impatient. I want to know things. And I want to know them right now. Is this God’s timing? Is this even in His will for me to go? I hope that it is, and pray that it is, but you never know. He might want me in seminary, or in Nashville, or…. here. I say that like, “Anywhere but here!” But I don’t mean that. I like here; I’m just ready for there. Contentment is not my thing, obviously.

Four, our Women’s Retreat is this weekend! :) I’m so excited. I wasn’t able to go last year, so I’m really excited that I get to go this year. I’m doing the music, so that’ll be interesting. I love so many worship songs that I don’t think most people will know, but I need to pick ones people are familiar with. I’ll let you know how that goes.

I have so much homework that I’m behind on. French is kicking my derrière.

I need to stop blogging right now.

Big News

I’ve kept mum (from this blog at least) about this for a while now. Okay, it’s only been about three weeks. But that’s a long time to keep a secret when you keep a blog (which is basically publicizing your secrets).

Secret Keeper!

So, here’s my big announcement. Ahem. Me me me me me meeeee.

Ladies and Gentlemen, children of all ages.

I, Mary Smith, have submitted my application to go to Africa for one year in September. I won’t know if I got accepted for another few weeks. I should know by Valentines day.

What will I be doing?

I will be on a college campus in Northern Africa sharing the gospel. At this college there are 60,000 students. They come from all over the western part of Africa. Only 30% of women are literate and 50% of men. I know that we’ll be in an English group for the students who want to practice their conversational English I’m not sure about what else we’ll be doing while we are there. I’ve seen some pictures of other people who have gone and they worked with children, so there might be some of that. :) I hope so!

Anyways, I’m trying to not get too excited because it’s not guaranteed that I’m going. I haven’t gotten accepted. And even if I do get accepted, the Lord might shut the door. I really, really hope I get to go in September.

Anywho, that’s all the news that I’ve got. Hopefully in two weeks I’ll have amazing news for you. We’ll see! :)

Thanks for reading! I appreciate it.

Intern Mary :)

I really love the sound of that. It does have some sort of ring to it, doesn’t it? Well, I’ve started my internship at a Christian radio station called J103. My first day was on Monday. It was awesome. My first assignment was to write an article on Matthew West for the J103 website. So, I researched info about him and wrote a little ditty.

On Wednesday, I uploaded the story to the website (all by myself!) and put in a video. If you are wanting to read it, it’s found on the Artist Spotlight page. And then I revamped the J103 Top Ten List. You should check that out! The top ten songs are links to Youtube videos of that song. So, go look around the site, listen a little, and tell me what you think!

I love web stuff. I’m such a nerd. But computer programs and web development are so fun to me. Who knew I’d be a techie? Anyways, I have class in an hour and am going to meet Mrs. Kate Duggan in 25 minutes!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

ps- I can’t wait to update you on The Maze and the impact it had on our campus! Get excited!
